Where did I go today?

I’ve just got back from a cycle ride to an interesting little village, just outside of Cambridge. Until I write up the route, take a look at this landmark from today’s destination. Where in Cambridgeshire do you think I went today, and what’s the mystery object?

All is now revealed in my new post! Several people contacted me by e-mail correctly identifying that this was one of the millennium fire beacons — I’m greatly impressed, as I very much doubt that I’d have recognised this!
